In this beautiful opening kapitel of Tehillim, Dovid HaMelech teaches us the true path to happiness and spiritual success, which begins by distancing ourselves from the bad influence of the reshaim and the leitzim. Instead, a Yid finds his ultimate joy and desire in the sweet Torah of Hashem, learning it day and night. The tzaddik who lives this way is compared to a deep-rooted tree planted by streams of water, constantly producing good fruits and succeeding in all he does, while the wicked are like chaff blown away by the wind.
