In this beautiful kapitel, we sing of the sheer wonder of Yetziat Mitzrayim, when Hashem chose the Bnei Yisrael as His holy nation and the entire creation trembled before His presence. The poet vividly describes how the Yam Suf split, the Yarden turned backward, and the mighty mountains danced like sheep in awe of the Ribbono shel Olam. We are reminded that all of nature bends instantly to the will of the Elokei Yaakov, Who can turn a hard rock into a flowing spring of water. Because of its powerful focus on the miracles of our redemption, Yidden traditionally recite this kapitel as an integral part of Hallel on Yom Tov.
