In this deeply moving kapitel, Dovid HaMelech cries out to Hashem from the very depths of his heart, pleading that Hashem hear his heartfelt tefillos and supplications. He acknowledges that if Hashem were to strictly reckon our avonos, no one could survive, but we hold onto the comforting emunah that true forgiveness lies with Him so that He may be revered. The neshama yearns for Hashem more than watchmen long for the morning light, encouraging all of Klal Yisrael to place their hope in Hashem's abundant chesed and ultimate redemption. Because of its powerful themes of teshuvah and rachamim, Yidden traditionally recite this kapitel during the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah and in times of distress.
