In this first aliyah, we learn about the incredible yeshuah of Sarah Imeinu, as Hashem finally remembers her and fulfills His promise. After so many years of waiting and tefillah, Sarah conceives and gives birth to a son to Avraham Avinu in his old age, exactly at the moed that Hashem had spoken about.
The aliyah describes how Hashem remembered Sarah as He had promised, leading to the birth of Yitzchak Avinu to Avraham in his old age. Avraham names his newborn son Yitzchak and circumcises him on the eighth day, fulfilling the mitzvah exactly as Hashem commanded him.
The Torah is telling us here a tremendous chiddush about how Hashem runs the world. The pesukim repeat it over and over: "just as promised," "what had been announced," "at the set time of which God had spoken." Lichoira, why does the Torah need to emphasize this so many times? We know Hashem keeps His word.
The yesod here is that when a Yid is waiting for a yeshuah, it can feel like things are completely stagnant, as if nothing is moving. Sarah and Avraham waited decades, getting older and older, until it seemed physically impossible. But the Torah is revealing to us that the gezerah was already set. The "moed", the exact moment of the yeshuah, was already spoken and established by Hashem from the very beginning. Every single day of waiting was not a delay or a mistake; it was the precise path leading to the exact second of the "ka'asher amar."
We often find ourselves waiting for our own yeshuos, whether it is with shidduchim, parnassah, or chinuch. The yetzer hara wants us to think that our tefillos are falling on deaf ears, chas v'shalom. But this parsha comes to give us chizuk: Hashem has a "moed," a set time for your yeshuah, and He is keeping track of every single detail. Not one tefillah is lost, and when the right moment arrives, the yeshuah will unfold exactly as Hashem planned, down to the very second.
Today, when you daven for something you have been waiting for, stop for a moment before Shemoneh Esrei and remind yourself: Hashem already has the exact "moed" for my yeshuah planned out, and I can completely rely on His perfect timing.
